Style Inspiration in the Canadian Rockies
Sometimes it's just good to be inspired by something a little different right? Not necessarily something bridal. Give the lace and tulle a little rest to refresh our creative juices with imagery and ideas that remind us that beauty is a blessing and that nature has the ability to cleanse our minds and draw out our most authentic, beautiful selves. That's why here at Vale + Vine, I want to give brides and vendors a little reprieve once in a while...something unexpected and lovely that speaks to me, and in turn perhaps speaks to you.
My friend Kristen Wood is a fellow expat like me, and hails from Canmore, Alberta but lives only a few minutes from me here in Northern California. We met through a collective of film photographers a few years back and I just can't tell you how grateful I am to have a fellow nature-loving, film-shooting, Canadian friend living and working practically next door. You should see her eyes light up when she talks about the Canadian Rockies...they mostly sparkle, but there's a little speck of grieving in the catchlight too, as I know she misses them dearly. This shoot by Kristen was done in Kananaskis country, Alberta, and really reflects her understanding of how the wildness of nature can enable true beauty to unfold in its presence. Featuring Calgary style blogger Jocelyn Jacobson, this imagery is clean, uncomplicated, and calming. Definitely the kind of contemplative style that would work well on a wedding day right? And wouldn't this be a pretty spot for an cozy engagement session or intimate wedding ceremony? Ahh...now the wheels are turning again...
