Forage + Fern | Galiano Island Workshop
Spilling over with inky watercolours, rust-toned elements, and a coastal serenity that embodies the best of Canada's West Coast scenery, this shoot from the Forage & Fern workshop on Galiano Island brings dark and light together with fluidity and a wealth of texture. One of my favourite aspects of this shoot and the style it evokes is that it's clearly inspired by the surroundings. From the local flora and fauna, to the salty sea air and rocky shores, to the weather, skies, and surf, the location has informed the design, style, and look of the shoot. This is what I love so much about Canadian geography -- its vastness and unending beauty is a never-ending mine filled with treasures to inspire creatives in their work and offer couples limitless possibilities when planning their weddings. As you head into a new year rife with blank canvases, unmarked calendars, and new notebooks ready to be filled, consider returning to nature for your inspiration and your motivation. Nature speaks to us, centres us, and inspires us -- it is the ultimate muse and we only need enter into its presence to hear the voice of Truth speaking to our waiting, searching, creating hearts. Let's do this 2017.
