This modern meets heirloom winter wedding in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley is a perfect blend of classic and contemporary elements that turn the eye without distracting the viewer from the romance. Jael's vintage style gown shimmers against the backdrop of the snow-covered lake and mountains, while her bridesmaids' decidedly non-winter dresses pop with rich, rustic hues and short hemlines,...
Read MoreAs we round the corner into the season of engagements, along with the Christmas holidays, (not to mention weather, in much of the northern hemisphere) this snowy engagement session set in the Canadian Rockies is the perfect inspiration for couples planning winter engagement photos. With its dramatic setting, cozy wardrobe, (that wine-coloured pea-coat though!)...

Read MoreWhile the blossoms are singing spring's praises in British Columbia's capital, Victoria, snow and sub-zero temperatures are reminding residents of eastern Canadian locales that the last vestiges of winter are still upon them. Hence the publication of one final (I think!) winter shoot for the season. If you're a bride, photographer, or stylist looking for some last-minute snowy engagement shoot inspiration, look no further than Blair + Matt's shoot featured on Vale + Vine, shot by Ontario photographer Kurtz Oripa....
Read MoreSnowy days that look deceptively warm are never a bad thing. There's something about being able to trudge hand-in-hand with your love through snowy drifts without having to be bundled to the max. The thought of warm sun on my face with snow beneath my feet brings to mind spring skiing and crisp country walks, and the last frosty mornings before the (muddy) thaw offers one more chance to embrace the best of winter...
Read MoreEverything about this styled shoot by Nadia Hung Photography is sumptuous. The cake, the gowns, the floral arrangements...there is nothing stuffy or aloof about what's on display here. Like a velvet chaise or an exquisite down duvet that beckon one to enjoy their luxurious charms, these elements - gowns, florals, cake, and even the nuanced details - are to be enjoyed. What bride wouldn't want to run her finger along the cake's creamy edge to taste the luscious swirl on her fingertip, or twirl endlessly on the dance floor in one of Truvelle's magnificent gowns. If I was in need of winter wedding (better yet, New Year's wedding) inspiration, this is where I would start. With the cremé de la cremé.
Read MoreThere is so much that draws me in to this Mount Seymour engagement session by Vancouver photographer Nadia Hung. From Ksenia's Russian-style hat and red leather gloves, to the falling snow and the deep hush that comes with it--all of the elements keep me returning to the images for another look. I love that Kevin and Ksenia seem to be enveloped not only by their cozy plaid blanket and snug textured wardrobe, but by nature itself, ensconced in the solitude and depths of winter, warmed by their love for one another. Simplicity, style, setting...they all work well together here and Nadia captures both the emotion and environment so well. I am really excited about featuring more of Nadia's stunning photography here on Vale + Vine.
