New York City Elopement Inspiration

It's Valentine's week and Vale + Vine has a line-up of sweep-you-off-your-feet shoots to put you in the mood.  Today's feature is a New York City elopement inspiration shoot with real couple Clayton + Keely Jones, shot by Weber Photography.  Photographed in Central Park and the West Village, this elopement brings unexpected twists that would suit an unconventional couple looking to mix things up a bit.

Intimate Coastal Rehearsal Dinner Inspiration

When a shoot comes together so well that such an eclectic mix of details and elements can blend seamlessly and offer pleasant surprises along the way, you know that the talented industry professionals who executed such a fantastic collaboration are ones you want to work with--on your wedding, your next portfolio shoot, on just about anything!  I'm going to be returning to and referencing this intimate rehearsal dinner shot by Lani Elias outside of Vancouver, Canada for a long time, and hope you'll savour the styling, compositions, and mood as much as I do.  The only irritant?  I can't savour the food photographed here! ...

'Wind' Inspired Wedding Shoot

I've been holding onto Brittany Mahood's collection of 'wind' inspired images shot at Erich McVey's Oregon workshop because I knew I wanted to publish them during Vale + Vine's celebration week.  As Vale + Vine marks its 50th post and announces new features coming soon to the blog, I wanted to showcase work by a cross-section of fine art wedding photographers from Canada whose work would inspire both brides and vendors who have a love for the wilderness and incorporating outdoor elements into their wedding day visions....

Ethereal Coastal Inspiration Part I of II

This week Vale + Vine is celebrating it's 50th post (published last Friday - take a peek here) and the launch of a blog that I founded in order to highlight Canadian fine art wedding talent and content within the wedding industry. With an emphasis on natural elements and outdoor environments, the highest quality of imagery, and stunning concepts brought to fruition by exceptional creative talent, Vale + Vine has had the opportunity to showcase some of Canada's finest wedding industry professionals...

Enchanted Garden Shoot on Vancouver Island

Today is Vale + Vine's 50th post.  In the 9 years I've been blogging about my travels and my photography work on my personal blog, I have likely published more than 50 posts, but 50 in 2 months (10 weeks to be exact)?  Well that's a new level of blogging commitment for me that just feels like something to celebrate!

So beginning today, I'm starting a week-long celebration in honour of fine art wedding inspiration as interpreted by Canadian industry professionals.  I wanted to kick off that celebration with a styled shoot photographed by Rebecca Amber, featuring florals by Clare Day, and I'm so grateful to share their gorgeous collaboration...

Natural Light Portraits from Ellebay Bridal

These naturally lit bridal portraits were photographed at Ellebay Bridal in New Westminster, and outdoors in Vancouver, BC by Lily Ann Photography, and highlight such pretty details by dress designer Merly Bayona that I couldn't resist showcasing them on Vale + Vine.  This gown would be perfect for both formal or more relaxed weddings, and works well both indoors and outdoors.  The creamy tones give the dress an heirloom feel, but the gown's detailing and cut are distinctly on-trend.  See more on Vale + Vine's Instagram feed throughout the day!

Heirloom Bridal Inspiration in the Wilderness

This styled shoot photographed by Caileigh Kyle of Toronto was part of Erich McVey's photography workshop in Bend, Oregon and is such a calm, contemplative way to start off the week on Vale + Vine.  I love featuring work by Canadian photographers who travel and bring home their images and as a result, inspire the creative spirit within.  There is so much about this shoot and location that reminds me of the vast and rugged wilderness of Canada...

Styled Bridal Shoot with Earth Tones

The diversity of earth tones encompassed in this bridal styled shoot from Brushfire Photography in Arizona is exquisite.  There's a really nice blend of strength and delicacy that is evoked through the palette used, with strength and boldness coming from the deep greens and warm rust and bronze tones, while barely blush, pale cream, and off-white endow a sense of tenderness and elegance.  The perfect weave of soft and strong is even played out in the model's angelic hair colour and intense eyes and brows....

Styled Shoot in South Carolina Ruins

Ruins are a favourite of mine, because they usually incorporate natural overgrowth, providing a space that brings nature and architecture together in aesthetically appealing harmony.  Grand or ancient ruins however, are not as easily found in Canada as they are in other parts of the world.  That being said, this styled session photographed in the ruins of an old church in South Carolina is a great example of the kind of ruins one might find in various places across Canada...albeit with very different flora (not so much Spanish moss found in the Canadian landscape).  In fact, Vale + Vine featured a French-inspired wedding that took place at Trappist Monastery ruins in Manitoba....
