Jericho Beach was a favourite spot of mine when I lived in Vancouver, one of the reasons being because it blends park and coastal locations so well. This spring session featuring a braided bridal updo, a barely-blush bouquet with complimentary makeup, and flowing ocean-worthy gown offers inspiration that looks just as good...
Read MoreI think international travel is one of the things that Canadians do best. We adapt, we're polite (generally speaking, unless watching hockey) and we carry with us a sense of wonder that I believe endears us to the cultures and communities we encounter around the globe....
Read MoreAs long summer days begin to wane and the soft glow of dusk diminishes, it seems fitting to share a styled shoot that celebrates the end of summer and a sun-kissed bridal look that looks entirely appropriate on a late-August/early September bride who's spent the summer enjoying the outdoors!...
Read MoreToday's feature on Vale + Vine brings out the Best of Bohemian--a carefree bride, loose floral arrangements, sweeping skirts and windswept tresses, a beachside location, and an diverse palette. The elements are eclectic but cohesive, the styling unfussy yet harmonious, and the entire look a beautiful nod to the West Coast hippie of a bygone era but with a luxurious, modern feel....
Read MoreThe sheer elation experienced by this sweet couple on their wedding day makes me grin every time I look at their portraits captured on film by Emily Katharine Photography. And then I start to notice the details that blend classic romantic touches with the tropical backdrop...
Read MoreThis week Vale + Vine is celebrating it's 50th post (published last Friday - take a peek here) and the launch of a blog that I founded in order to highlight Canadian fine art wedding talent and content within the wedding industry. With an emphasis on natural elements and outdoor environments, the highest quality of imagery, and stunning concepts brought to fruition by exceptional creative talent, Vale + Vine has had the opportunity to showcase some of Canada's finest wedding industry professionals...
Read MoreI think one of the reasons why Brendan and Nicole's West Vancouver engagement session stands out to me, is because there's such a serene confidence captured here. Confidence in their own skin as individuals and confidence in their relationship as a couple. No one trying to be someone they're not or pose in a way that feels awkward and unnatural--they're just being...themselves....
Read MoreWhen Canadian couples think of destination weddings outside of the country, locales like Cuba, Mexico, and elsewhere in the Caribbean usually come to mind. But the United States is also chock full of gorgeous destination spots that would make for exotic destination wedding/honeymoon combinations.
The Isle of Palms, a beach where this shoot took place, is located near Charleston, South Carolina which offers everything from the warm(er) Atlantic ocean, to historic plantations, to promenades lined with oak trees dripping with Spanish moss....
Read MoreLast week Blush Wedding Photography was featured here on Vale + Vine, but Kristy's images of the cranberry farm engagement session were just a little teaser and hopefully left viewers wanting to see more. Kristy and I met at Jose Villa's photography workshop in Mexico 3 years ago, and since then I've loved watching her flourish in her work--last month, Blush Wedding Photography won Best Wedding Photographer in BC, an honour extended by the Canadian Wedding Industry Awards. Kristy's photography often features a flair for the exotic, which is no surprise seeing as how she and her husband are true globetrotters--Kristy has traveled to over 50 countries. With that in mind, I'm excited to start off the week with an exotic styled shoot perfect for brides planning destination weddings or planners and stylists needing a little inspiration for their clients' spring weddings. Because as planner friend Nicole Sihlis of Created Lovely recently noted, "Whoever came up with the term 'off season' forgot about planners"...so true!
