An old-world Amalfi Coast styled shoot is on Vale + Vine today and brings to mind a subtle nod to a medieval past with the gown's billowy sleeves and the fortress-like location. This shoot, photographed by Vaisa Photography of Vancouver, is just one in a 2-part shoot created by a group of talented vendors as part of the Moda e Arte Workshop. Stay tuned for Part II coming soon!
Read MoreOver the last couple of years, statement veils, floral crowns, and hairpieces have garnered much attention in the wedding industry, and today Vale + Vine has the pleasure of featuring multiple looks all from one luxurious shoot photographed by Christie Graham Photography. Four distinct looks set against a neutral outdoor backdrop and accented with a bouquet, cake, and an invitation suite (crafted with blackberry ink!) that coordinate well with each headpiece.
Read MoreA lavender farm at dusk? I can't imagine any pastoral setting more romantic (or aromatic!) than this. Rife with a sun-drenched palette of pastels in shades of violet, lavender, and soft white, this styled shoot at the Leelanau Lavender Farm in Michigan would translate well to a lavender farm or field anywhere--brides looking for a location in British Columbia, might try the Okanagan Lavender + Herb Farm....
Read MoreI hear it a lot...'the wedding didn't have a lot of details, can I still submit it?' The thing is, every wedding has details, just maybe not a lot of lavish special touches or creative DIY elements, and that is perfectly fine because not every bride has the man-power (more like, bridesmaid-power) to churn out truckloads of hand-crafted decor, and not every couple has the inclination to spend their budget on jaw-dropping, high-end details. You can almost always bet, however, on the wedding incorporating a dress, accessories, and a bouquet...
Read MoreWhat do I look for when I go through submissions here at Vale + Vine? Emphasis on natural elements and outdoor settings, great use of natural light, flattering (but not stiff) poses and easy expressions, compositions that both tell a story and allow the eye to traverse the image well, details that don't look out of place or too contrived, and creamy, natural skin tones....
Read MoreI first encountered the delicate beauty of Claire Pettibone's gowns while attending Jose Villa's photography workshop in Mexico a few years ago, and every season I just can't get enough of the creative intricacies and embellishments that typify Claire Pettibone's gowns. Here, Lani Elias highlights the luxurious details with an exotic yet familiar landscape, (sand dunes on the prairies) natural light, and minimal accoutrements....
Read MoreDestination inspiration will always have a home here on Vale + Vine, especially as a large contingent of Canadian couples choose to throw winter weddings in warmer locales. Today's feature is by Alberta photographer Justine Milton, shot on a private estate in Palm Springs, California. With a nuanced nod to the desert, the pastel gown, succulents, and cross-back chairs pair well with the natural surroundings and would translate easily to a destination weddings from Mexico to Morocco. Read MoreA couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of featuring one of the most stunning shoots in the wedding industry on Vale + Vine. Shot by Toronto-based photographer, Reid Lambshead of When He Found her, and styled by some of the best in the industry, this Ethereal Coastal Wedding Inspiration was just Part I of a two-part series...
Read MoreI have a really soft spot for vibrant hues paired with pastels, so this shoot by Justine Milton of Alberta caught my attention immediately. The look is bold and not for everyone, but neither was Frida Kahlo who was the photographer's muse for this shoot. Frida marched to the beat of her own drum, much like the bride + groom depicted here...
