Something Blue | Nautical Wedding Inspiration

Though Canada's heartland may be landlocked, it's expansive coastal regions lure many couples to its dramatic, rocky shorelines to tie the knot.  This shoot, styled and photographed in Vancouver, British Columbia by Simply Rose Photography, offers a nautical take on a look for bridesmaids that incorporates distinctive details that more than fulfill the tradition of 'something blue' on one's wedding day...

Nepali Bridal Portraits | Support for Nepal

When my friend and fellow fine art photographer Nina Mullins of Nina & Wes Photography started talking about planning a truly distinct kind of photography workshop in Nepal, I knew it would be something special.  The Beyond Workshop was not only designed to offer photographers a chance to capture beautifully styled bridal inspiration on location in Nepal, but was set up so that 100% of the profits would go directly to caring for local orphans and the fight against human trafficking.  Vendors took no pay and almost $8000 was distributed to locals in need.  This is what happens when business is bettered by the hearts of the selfless....

Sumptuous Gardens and Luxe Gowns

Vale + Vine is wrapping up the week with a sumptuous spring garden shoot by Melissa Gidney Photography featuring luxe gowns and accessories in a stately outdoor setting.  With several outdoor looks to choose from, these slim, elegant gowns work well in a garden setting, offering ease of movement that a ballgown-style skirt would not, however, their ornate trimmings reinforce their identity as anything but simple sheaths...

Spring Floral Inspiration

This week I felt a burst of florals was in order, and what better way to do that than with the intricate stylings of the attendees from the 2014 Team Flower Workshop photographed by Heather Payne Photography.  Whether you're setting your dinner table with a custom arrangement, stopping by your local florist for an armful of fresh-cut flowers to arrange on your own (peonies are everywhere these days!), or are foraging for something wild and wonderful to decorate with (as long as it's legal!), these gorgeous creations are sure to inspire....

Lavender and Cream Bridal Inspiration

I'm always impressed when a creative team can pull off a look that pays obvious homage to the past yet avoids anything reminiscent of 'cheeseball vintage' and embodies current trends in fresh ways.  From the model's muse-like aura to her cream heirloom style dress, from the room's rich wood paneling to its gilded landscape paintings, from the dramatic florals showing off spring's more serious side...

Okanagan Blossom Inspiration

Spring across Canada is rife with blossoms, pastel hues, and a rich landscape bursting at the seams with nature's most brilliant artistry.  British Columbia's Okanagan Valley is especially reputed for it's verdant hills spilling over with fruit blossoms as her wide swaths of orchards come to life after winter...
