Meadow Inspiration for the Modern Bride
If you've ever wondered what a modern day interpretation of Anne of Avonlea might look like, this styled collaborative shoot by Rebecca Yale Photography and Shellie Pomeroy of Silk + Willow is it (in my mind at least). Set in New Paltz, New York, amidst meadows of clover and peaceful brooks, I could just imagine a grown up Anne Shirley spending an easy afternoon foraging for blooms and daydreaming in the Atlantic countryside, reciting The Lady of Shalott by the waters' edge, and entertaining the likes of her kindred spirit, Diana, perpetual tease/eventual beau Gilbert Blythe, Matthew + Marilla, and Miss Stacy. Raspberry cordial would, of course, be on the menu.
I can't imagine how many Canadian brides have grown up with the legendary Canadian heroine as their childhood muse, but I'm confident that any woman who read L. M. Montgomery's books as a girl, can see a contemporary version of Anne (or maybe even themselves) in this collection of images. From delicate fabrics and textiles to foraged and expertly crafted florals, from hand-dipped candles made just for the shoot to calligraphy created with ink from crushed berries, all aspects of this natural, bespoke shoot evoke a return to nature and a bygone era that holds such an allure for those of us longing for slower days and more authentic experiences.
